About Me
![]()
This is my blog. I am a second year med student. I’ve heard too many stories of people getting in trouble from their schools for blogging, so I’m going to keep my identity secret for now. Lame, I know.
My goal with this blog is to give a little glimpse into what medical school is like. When I was a pre-med, I loved watching movies and reading books about life as a medical student. But those portrayals always tended to glorify the experience, or to sentimentalize it too much. While I love movies like Gross Anatomy, and books like Becoming A Doctor by Melvin Konner, I always wanted to know a little more. I wanted to know about the ups and downs, the highs and lows. I wanted the real story of life as a medical student. With this blog, I hope to give some indication of what that is. Granted, I still don’t know what that is–that’s why I’m doing it!
I guess it should go without saying, but this blog is informed solely by my personal experiences. The opinions–OPINIONS–expressed on this blog are mine and mine alone. While I happen to be somewhat partial to my opinions, I’ll be the first to admit that they can sometimes be stupid, obnoxious, wrong, or whatever–and that’s my problem, not yours. If you disagree, you’re welcome to voice YOUR opinion in the comments–and please do, as I’m prone to change my mind on a moment’s notice when good evidence is presented. I enjoy healthy discussion and lively arguments, but I’m not a fan of ad hominem attacks, as they are completely ineffectual in persuading thinking people, so let’s keep it civil, folks.
Finally, if you’re interested in a link exchange, or trading guest posts across blogs, or any other of that fun blog-related stuff, please, by all means, feel free to e-mail me: contact (at) medschoolmemoir dot com.
